A Piece of You? And now what? (2023)

Departing from a personal encounter with the justice system I created this work as a collective constructive critic to the justice system of The Netherlands when it comes to sexual assault. I created a system to show the failures of the system, in this installation the judge gavel marge with the flesh hammer hits every 15 minutes, that’s how often the police is called to report a sexual crime, and 8 times a day it gets a law book page printed, that how often a report of sexual assault is accepted by the Dutch police. The gap between the hits and the prints are the amount of calls that are being dismissed by the police refusing to accept the report. This work explores how justice sacrifice survivors in sake of justice.
